Run clubs near The Gables: where to run with others
Hills Run Club is free to join, so runners in The Gables and Box Hill can pick the run that fits their week and meet a group every Thursday or every second Tuesday.

If you live in The Gables or Box Hill and are looking for a run club to join, the quickest answer is Hills Run Club's two regular runs. Pick the one whose time suits your week, register for that date in HRC+ and arrive at the meeting time. You do not need to be fast, and you can walk the whole way.
What The Gables and Box Hill runners need to know
The Gables is a newer suburb in The Hills Shire, next to Box Hill. Hills Run Club is built for people in exactly this position: runners, joggers and walkers all belong, and the group gives you a fixed time and place each week.
How to join a Gables run club
- Make a free HRC+ account at hillsrunclub.com/hrc-plus/. HRC+ is the club's free membership program, and it is where you register for runs.
- Choose your run from the runs page.
- Register for that date in HRC+. Every run is registered there, so each run needs its own sign-up.
- Arrive at the meeting time and choose the distance option that suits you on the day.
Running with the club is free, so the only sign-up is the free account.
Thursday mornings or Tuesday nights?
The two runs suit different weeks. Match one to your timetable, then put it in your diary.
| Run | When | Meet and start | Where | Distance options |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Thursday Morning Run | Every Thursday | Meet 5:45am, start 6:00am | Glenhaven Oval, 78 Glenhaven Road, Glenhaven | 2.5 km or 5 km, which is one or two 2.5 km laps |
| Tuesday Night Run | Every second Tuesday | Meet 6:45pm, start 7:00pm | Castle Hill Showground, Castle Hill, under the lights | 3 km or 6 km, which is one or two 3 km laps |
Thursday mornings finish with coffee and a sweet treat. The Tuesday run is under the lights, so it suits anyone who cannot make an early start.
Finding the Tuesday Night Run at Castle Hill Showground
The night runs now meet at Castle Hill Showground. Enter via Doran Drive, the entrance closest to the metro, take the first left and follow the road to the lit oval. The group meets at the large shed, and there is plenty of parking around it.
Start with one lap
You do not need to choose the longer option to belong. One lap is a full run, whether that is 2.5 km on a Thursday or 3 km on a Tuesday, and walkers are welcome at both runs. Choose the option that feels comfortable on the day, and try the other next time.
