Sydney, Australia – 20 August 2026

An invitation from adidas

When adidas brought Sydney’s run clubs together for the Hype Relay, Hills Run Club was one of the clubs on the list. The invitation meant a night of racing against clubs from across the city, with one baton per team and a car park turned into a race track.

It started with four friends and a Thursday morning run in the Hills District. Lining up alongside some of Sydney’s best-known run clubs, under our own name, is a moment the whole club can be proud of.

A car park turned race track

The night ran at the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park. A relay course was marked out in the car park with cones and lines, and every runner wore a white adidas running tee with a Hype Relay placard carrying their club’s name.

The format kept it simple. Each club raced as a team, and the baton had to make it around the course hand to hand. Between legs, the sidelines filled with runners cheering on whoever was carrying it.

Racing for the Hills District

Hills Run Club raced as a team of four: Harrison Ross, Nicholas Cutroni, Elyssa Haddad and Sarah Touma, each with a Hills Run Club placard on their chest. It put the Hills District on the same start line as the city’s run clubs.

The club meets in the Hills District of north-west Sydney, a long way from Moore Park. Nights like this show what a local club can become when people keep showing up for each other every week.

Thank you, adidas

Thank you to adidas Australia for the invitation and for the kit that came home with our team, and to the night’s hosts for bringing Sydney’s run clubs together.

Esquire Australia covered the night too. Run clubs have become one of the ways Sydney meets people, and the Hype Relay put that energy on one start line.
