Our Story

It started with four friends and a shared vision, to bring people together in the Hills district through running.

What began as a simple idea quickly grew into something much more: a space where anyone could show up, feel welcome, and be part of something bigger. One step at a time.

Through Hills Run Club, we saw the power of genuine connection firsthand. People who once felt lost found purpose again. Not through apps, but by showing up side by side, one Thursday at a time.

We didn’t start Hills Run Club because the world needed another running club. We started it because the world needs more connection.

Despite living in the most connected generation in history, millions of people have never felt more isolated. Loneliness has quietly become one of the biggest challenges facing our communities, especially among young Australians. It isn’t always obvious. It exists in crowded rooms, busy workplaces, universities, and even amongst friends. It’s the feeling of not truly being known, even when you’re surrounded by people.

We believe every person deserves to feel seen, valued, and like they belong. That’s why our mission is simple: to create a world where no one feels alone. Every person who joins us, every conversation after a run, and every friendship that begins here brings us one step closer to making that mission a reality.

Running is simply how we bring people together. You don’t need to be fast, own the latest gear, or even consider yourself a runner. All you have to do is show up. When people move together, conversations happen naturally, barriers come down, and strangers become friends.

What begins as a shared run often becomes something much bigger, a support network, a sense of belonging, and a community that shows up for one another both on and off the track.

Whether you’re chasing a personal best, taking the first step on your fitness journey, improving your mental health, or simply looking to meet good people, you’ll always have a place here. We don’t measure success by finish times or medals.

We measure it by the friendships that are formed, the confidence that’s built, and the lives that are changed through genuine human connection.

Every week, hundreds of people choose to show up for a run, but many leave with something they didn’t know they were looking for. A conversation. A friendship. A community. Because together, we’re building more than a running club. We’re building a movement where everyone belongs, and creating a world where no one feels alone.
