The Mentmore Mile with Pace Athletic x adidas
Pace Athletic x adidas brought eight Sydney run clubs to Rosebery for the Mentmore Mile, a street race to launch the Adizero Adios Pro 5, and Hills Run Club was one of the teams on the start line.

An invitation to Rosebery
Pace Athletic and adidas invited eight of Sydney’s most competitive run clubs to Rosebery for the Mentmore Mile, a street race to celebrate the launch of the adidas Adizero Adios Pro 5, and Hills Run Club was one of the clubs on the start line. Each club put forward four runners, two women and two men, to race one fast mile each.
The night was hosted at Pace Athletic House of Rec, the store’s flagship at 66 Mentmore Avenue, Rosebery. Doors opened at 5:30pm and the race started at 6:30pm.
Trying the Adios Pro 5
Before the race, every team could try the new Adizero Adios Pro 5 and customise its club race kit. The tables filled with patches, pens and tools, and the Adios Pro 5 went on runners’ feet around the shop floor.
One mile each, four to a team
Then it was out onto Mentmore Avenue. The format was simple: one mile per runner and four runners per team, with a $2,000 adidas prize pool and a trophy for the winning club. There were cash prizes for spectators on the night too.
It was a night of racing, noise, community and a whole lot of Adizero. With every club yelling for its runners, Mentmore Avenue felt alive from the first mile to the last.
Racing for the Hills District
Hills Run Club raced as one of the eight teams, two women and two men in our club tees, with a crew from the club there to cheer them on. Lining up on a Rosebery street against some of Sydney’s best-known run clubs, under our own name, is a long way from a Thursday morning lap of Glenhaven Oval, and a moment the whole club can be proud of.
After the mile, everyone headed back inside House of Rec to celebrate, though a few runners went straight to the floor first.
Thank you, Pace Athletic and adidas
Thank you to Pace Athletic and adidas for the invitation, for turning Mentmore Avenue into a race track for a night, and for the Adizero Adios Pro 5 and the prize pool. Thanks too to every club that raced, yelled and showed up. More of this, please.
